about

▧▨▧▨▧▨▧▨▧▨▧▨▧▧▨▧▨▧▨▧▨▧▨▧▨▧
How very much true that is: „Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible,“ my musical hero Frank Zappa often said. But there are two questions remaining: What is the norm, and what can possibly be seen as deviation?

The norm could be evaluated by pure numbers. It is what the majority does and prefers. And the all too slow processes of improvement where necessary filling libraries and thousands of books.

But what is deviation? For me it is rough, edgy, often harsh and hurting, waiting to be detected like an uncharted continent full of wild and dangerous animals with new, irrtiating and fascinating features.

Many of us cannot love what we aren’t acquainted with for some time. I can’t say why I feel the irrepressive urge to listen to the GREAT AND UNCHARTED UNHEARD, or why I want to create and listen to my compositions. But I can say that I truthfully love them and it always is what I like. But nobody else, maybe for decades to come. Yet I hope and I am confident the time will come.

Neither can I tell, if progress is necessary in the first place. I only can say that rumination is for the others, that it bores me to sleep and haunts my nights.

ANXIOUS PERSONS MIGHT NOT BE READY FOR THIS: –––
what if we restart our tradition of listening to music. ditch the simple melodies for our kids played by xylophone, triangle and melodica built with 3 chords and just 7 different notes on the scale.
let the explorative eagerness and curiosity of the coming generation decide for themselves.
